Rinicare’s continuous vital signs monitoring technology deployed across hospitals and Covid-19 health centres in India
Rinicare’s continuous vital signs monitoring technology platform, PRIME™, has started to be distributed across hospitals, health centres, and Covid-19 centres in Maharashtra state, India’s second most populous state with a population of 114 million people.
The PRIME units will be distributed throughout Maharashtra state, especially to remote areas, and will also be used the Covid-19 centre of Mumbai, where it is already being used to provide additional support in the high dependency unit. This project has been funded via a donation from Indian MP Shri Arvind Sawant, through his NGO Janeev Trust, to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackrey.
The PRIME system is designed to allow clinicians to wirelessly and remotely monitor their patients’ vital signs, helping them to spot any signs of deterioration early. It is completely portable, wireless, and provides a complete range of real-time, hospital-grade vital signs data that is accurate and consistent. Remote vital signs monitoring is particularly crucial for clinicians monitoring during the Covid-19 pandemic, when face-to-face contact is more limited.
PRIME™ continuously displays vital sign data from a suite of wireless sensors in real-time, allowing users to quickly and accurately evaluate patient conditions resulting in a more complete diagnosis and, ultimately, better patient care. Some of the equipment included with PRIME™ includes a gold-standard 12 lead ECG, wireless blood pressure cuff, wireless pulse oximeter, and wireless thermometer.
The PRIME remote monitoring scheme was officially launched at a ceremony in Mumbai, with guests including interventional cardiologist Dr. Ajit Desai, Corelink director Krishna D’Cruz, as well as other state leaders from Maharashtra. Corelink India has headed up the distribution of PRIME units in India, after Rinicare, through its distribution partner Rinicom, signed the deal in June 2021.
