Biofilm appoints new Chief Executive

Glasgow-based BioFilm has appointed former Touch Bionics chief executive Ian Stevens as its new chief executive.

Stevens, who was also formerly chief executive of Mpathy Medical, will replace BioFilm founder and chief executive Trevor Morgan, who is retiring.

Morgan helped set up BioFilm in 2003 while a director at collagen skin maker Devro Plc and he led a management buyout in 2007 funded by Tate and Lyle Ventures, Catapult Ventures and Scottish Enterprise.

Stevens was formerly chief financial officer at medical technology company Optos up to 2007, laterally as general manager for North America.

In 2007 he joined surgical medical device company Mpathy Medical as chief executive, which was sold to Danish surgical medical device manufacturer Coloplast in 2010.

Stevens joined Touch Bionics as chief executive in 2010 and left after it was sold to Icelandic orthotic and prosthetic manufacturer Össur in 2016.

Commenting on Stevens' appointment, BioFilm chairman Peter Shotter said: “We are delighted to welcome Ian to BioFilm at this exciting stage in its development and look forward to him helping the company continue the growth achieved to date by Trevor Morgan and his management team.”
